Anyone who asks you to send a photo of your passport deserves a hard no. We do not ask for one, and here is exactly why.
What we ask for
To publish a profile you upload one identity document and one photo of your face, and you do it once. A person on our team compares them. That is the whole verification.
What we keep, and for how long
- Your document image and face photo live in a private, non-public storage path. They are not downloadable from the web.
- After a human reviewer approves them, the files are deleted. We keep the fact that you were verified and when — not the images.
- A thirty-day fallback timer deletes them even if something in the review pipeline breaks.
Your document number is never written to the database, never logged, and never shown on any page.
Who can see what
Only the reviewing team sees your documents, and only for as long as the review takes. Other members see a badge — “ID + face verified” — and nothing else. Not your document, not your face photo, not your nationality or your date of birth.
Why this is legally different from most platforms
Identity documents and face photos are what the EU calls special-category personal data: they carry a much higher burden than ordinary profile data. We treat them accordingly — short retention, restricted access, and a hard deletion point once the check is done.
If you change your mind
You can ask us to erase your data at any time, from the settings page. We delete the files, anonymise the records we are legally required to keep, and remove your profile.
Deleting the files after review is the part that made me comfortable signing up. Most apps just keep everything forever.
